The 2008 season marked 100 years since the Cubs won a World Series championship.  It was also the anniversary of another memorable moment in Cubs lore - 25 years since former manager Lee Elia let a stream of expletives flow from his mouth, right into a tape recorder.  The date, April 29, 1983, a handful of reporters gathered in Lee Elia's office at Wrigley Field.  The Cubs suffered a tough loss to the Dodgers, their 14th loss in the season's first 19 games…..

"I'll tell you one f*ckin' thing, I hope we get f*ckin' hotter than sh*t, just to stuff it up them 3,000 f*ckin' people that show up every f*ckin' day. Because if they're the real Chicago f*ckin' fans, they can kiss my f*ckin' ass right downtown AND PRINT IT."

Now, over 25 years later, Lee Elia wants to make it clear, he wasn't angry at the Cubs fans.  Lee Elia…"The only thing that bothers me is that I would never want to destroy the love and what the fans of Chicago are to the Chicago Cubs.  I mean, God knows, if there's one pure thing in baseball, it is the fans of Chicago."
